Admissions for the Academic Year 2015/2016 will open soon!
The University of Pisa offers a two-year graduate program leading to the Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering degree with specialization in Space Engineering. The program is taught in English to both national and international students.
The Degree provides a world-class education in space engineering, preparing the students for a successful career in the aerospace sector, or for access to a doctoral program, in Europe or elsewhere.
The University of Pisa is an ancient and prestigious academic and research institution with a long-standing tradition in aeronautics and space. Major areas of study and research in space engineering include space systems, space mission analysis and design, flight mechanics, fluid dynamics and aerodynamics, aerothermodynamics, chemical and electric rocket propulsion, airbreathing propulsion, structures and materials. To this purpose the Aerospace Engineering Department runs a broad set of dedicated facilities and specialized laboratories.
Students are required to take two years of approved courses and research work, for a total of 120 ECTS credits. The final thesis required for graduation can be carried out either at the University of Pisa or at an external institution, like a second university, a research center or an industry. Graduation is granted at the end of the second academic year, upon successful fulfillment of the set requirements.
International students applying for a place must have completed at least three years of undergraduate education in an engineering discipline or in an applied science. Extensive undergraduate preparation in physics, chemistry, thermodynamics, mechanics, engineering and mathematics is required. The Admissions Committee (Commissione Istruttoria di Valutazione, CIV) may also consider research papers, publications and other original work. Adequate knowledge of English is required.
The application deadline for non-EU citizens (requiring immigration visas) is the 20th of March for the academic year starting in October. Application for EU citizens (not requiring immigration visas) is open from the 1st of August to the 30th of September free of charge, and up to the 31st of December with additional charges.
The University of Pisa grants financial aid for international students enrolled in English-language courses. Prospective students are encouraged to apply. Complete information is available in the relevant sections of this web site.
